Carnegie Math Visits
Fairview Elementary was fortunate to have John Lanphear visit during our math intervention blocks last week. John Lanphear is the Manager of School Partnerships at Carnegie Learning, which is the publisher of our Clear Math curriculum. He will return next month to continue to support our classroom teachers and support staff as they continue to implement Clear Math with fidelity.

Meet our Fairview Ambassadors
Our 5th grade Ambassadors are student leaders who represent the school. Fairview Ambassadors are student leaders who represent our school with pride, kindness, and responsibility. They are role models for their peers and help build a positive school community. Ambassadors assist with special events, provide tours to new students and various other duties that help Fairview students.
At the end of this school year, any 4th grader interested in becoming an Ambassador can apply, and will be interviewed by 2-3 Fairview adults and the current Ambassadors.

On Friday afternoon, students were dismissed to walk to their Fairview Family location where they would meet up with a Fairview adult and 8-10 other students. During this time, they played the Koosh Ball Name Game to get to know each other better. After the activity, students were dismissed to return to their classroom and prepare for dismissal.

The library at Fairview Elementary is open for business!! Students visited the library last week to meet our First Christian volunteers. The volunteers explained the library expectations and read a book aloud to each classroom. Next time, students will get to browse the shelves for a good book and check out the book for the week.

Friday Fire Drill
It was a beautiful day for a Fire Drill 🚒 Students and staff did an amazing job exiting the school building in a calm and quick manner. Teachers took attendance, all students and staff were accounted for and we were able to head back inside to return to learning. It is important that we practice safety drills in case of an emergency. Amazing job, Fairview!

Students came to school to find that a Gaga Ball Pit had been installed over the weekend. We were fortunate to have a Boy Scout who offered to plan, organize, and raise funds for a community service project, and he chose Fairview Elementary! Our Boy Scout, Dalton organized this project and brought it to life with a team of friends and family. Thank you Dalton 💙💛

Boys and Girls Club Update
Many of you have inquired about the Boys and Girls Club program here at Fairview Elementary for the 25/26 school year. We just received notice that Fairview will NOT have a program at this time.
Unfortunately, the current trends in funding will not allow the Boys and Girls Club to serve in the same capacity as they have over the past five years. There are a handful of District 186 schools that will have the program, but they have a different funding source.
The Central Unit at 300 S. 15th Street in Springfield will remain open and fully operational. Information on registration for the after school program at the Central Unit is below:
Registration begins Monday, August 12th, at our Central Unit from 10am-5pm.
The after school program begins at Central Unit on Monday, August 18th.
Students participating in the after school program at the Central Unit will take a bus from Fairview to the Boys and Girls Club on 15th Street.
There will be a 'Back to the Club' registration event on August 14th. Please check their Facebook page for event times and locations.

WIN A $25 WALMART GIFT CARD!!!
We value your feedback and are committed to creating a welcoming environment in our schools as part of our district’s focus on Family and Community Engagement. To help us understand how we are doing, we invite you to complete a brief survey. Click here to take the survey.
This survey is anonymous, and your responses will be used to celebrate our successes and identify areas for improvement as we prepare for 2025, this is called the Panorama survey. Please note, this is the first of 2 surveys you will be asked to complete this school year. Both are very important but have different data collected. The Panorama survey allows us to receive results quickly, enabling us to act promptly on your feedback. We will launch the 5Essentials Survey in late January, and the results will be used to plan for the next school year.
Panorama Survey:
Must be completed by January 10, 2025.
Complete one survey for EACH school your child(ren) attend(s).
The survey takes about ten minutes to complete.
Access the survey clicking this link.
Select Fairview from the drop down menu.
The survey is available in multiple languages. Above the District logo is a drop down menu where you can select your preferred language.
After you complete the survey, email
amymiller@sps186.org, and in the subject, put your oldest student's name and grade and the word DONE. We will do a drawing for a $25 Walmart gift card when the survey is over.
