Greetings Lanphier Family! Today the Administrative Team reviewed our school-wide expectations as they are outlined in the Springfield School District 186 student and family handbook. Lanphier PRIDE expectations will be enforced beginning tomorrow, Thursday, August 25, 2022. We look forward to partnering with you to ensure every student respects themselves, the school community, school property, and the property of others. As a reminder, The STUDENT DRESS CODE is as follows: "Dress and grooming shall neither present a risk to the health, safety or general welfare of students or others in the school nor interfere with or disrupt the educational environment or process. School appropriate clothing is to be worn. Oversized, extremely baggy clothing or improperly-fitted clothing is not allowed. Pants, shorts or skirts must be worn at the waist — sagging is prohibited. Clothing with holes above the knee, ragged hems or cut-off hemlines, or made of transparent or fishnet fabric, or clothing that exposes the chest, abdomen, genital area or buttocks, undergarments or the legs above mid-thigh, shall not be worn in the buildings. Dress and grooming shall not be contrary to curriculum goals and/or educational objectives or advertise, promote or picture alcoholic beverages, tobacco, illegal drugs or illegal or violent behavior. Hats, caps, bandanas, hoods of any type, sweatbands, sunglasses, pajama pants, slippers, or shoes with wheels attached to the bottom shall not be worn in the buildings". Please review the dress code with your child. Warnings have been issued and we are counting on you to ensure that your child remains in class ready and prepared to learn. The Keep Kids in School Coalition will be offering FREE physicals and immunizations for District 186 students Saturday, August 27th at Springfield Clinic Wabash- 2200 Wabash Ave. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.. No insurance required. Must be an enrolled District 186 student to participate. Standard school vaccines only available while supplies last.No appointment needed. The clinic will only serve District 186 students who are entering Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade and those who are new to Illinois must provide a current physical exam and immunization record. All 12th grade students must provide proof of having received a dose of the meningococcal vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. The legal parent or guardian must accompany their child. No sports physicals will be offered.

We will start the 2022-23 computer roll-out TOMORROW, Tuesday, 8/23/22. Students will be called down via the PA announcements to the North Gym alphabetically and by class, beginning with Seniors. We prefer that students bring their previously issued computer bags with them, but we do have bags that can be assigned as needed.

Lanphier’s Cross Country and Track Teams took time out of their Sunday morning to pass out water to the runners during the Abe’s Amble 5K and 10k at the Illinois State Fair.

Thanks so much to the Springfield Police Department for helping our students have a safe path this morning! Remember, if you are dropping your student off in the morning please remember to use Converse Street, so our busses have room to safely drop students off.

LHS Families, We appreciate your patience as we work through drop-off procedures through the first week of school. If you are dropping your student off we ask that you please drop them off on the Converse street side. First Student school buses & city buses will be dropping off on 11th street. We are trying to limit congestion and traffic issues due to construction and space limitations. Our focus remains on the safety and security of our students and we appreciate your cooperation with this.

Attention Student Drivers! Due to the construction, the Converse Parking Lot is the ONLY student parking lot available for this school year. Parking permits will be sold during Monday, August 29th in the small commons before school, during both lunch shifts, and after school to SENIORS first. Specific spots will be ASSIGNED to the student. Parking spots will be $40 cash. Students must have proof of insurance to purchase a permit. Any remaining permits will be sold the following week. Each student can be photographed in 2 outfits. We ask that one photo be taken in dressy attire such as dresses, blouses, slacks, dress shirts and ties, dress pants, and jackets. This is the photo that will be included in the LAN-HI Yearbook. The second outfit can be something of your own choosing.

Lanphier High School Freshman Forward *PLEASE NOTE THE DATE & TIME CHANGE Saturday, August 20th 8:30 am - 12:00 pm Enter/leave using the ramp to the large commons (construction of the ramp will be complete by 8/20). *The time and date were adjusted for the LHS Freshman Forward event to allow LHS freshmen to have complete and accurate access to Lanphier’s facility.

Free Physical & Immunization Clinics at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health, 2833 S Grand Ave E, Springfield, IL 62703 TUESDAY, AUGUST 9, 2022 - 8:30 AM - 1:00 P.M. SATURDAY, AUGUST 13, 2022 - 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM All students entering a pre-k program, kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade and those new to Springfield Public Schools must provide proof of a physical exam completed by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician's assistant by the first day of school. An updated immunization record is also required.

Students eligible to try out for The Lanphier Football team please note, tryouts and practices begin August 8. Tryouts and practices are from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday and will be held on Saturday mornings. These practices are mandatory to be part of the Football Team. Practices are held at Bunn Field at 1300 Division St. Springfield. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Goff at dgoff@sps186.org.

🏐🏐🏐Reminder!🏐🏐🏐 Lanphier High School will hold Girls Volleyball tryouts on August 8th and 9th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Lober/Nika Gym on the corner of North Grand and 11th Street. Tryouts are closed and only girls participating in tryouts will be permitted in the building. Participants should bring plenty of water. Pick-up and Drop-off by the main gym doors on 11th Street.
